Should I Avoid Peanuts While Doing A Candida Cleanse?

I had a viewer send me this question, “If peanuts are allowed in moderation, why is homemade peanut butter using plain peanuts and olive oil not?”

I always recommend being cautious with peanuts because of the potential for an allergic reaction.

If you’ve got an issue with your immune system, especially if you’ve got a Candida, parasite, or bacterial problem, peanuts are contraindicated, meaning that you should leave them well alone. Needing to stay away from peanuts is particularly true if you have immune-related symptoms like skin rashes, sneezing, itchy eyes, hay fever, sinus problems, or asthma.

Peanuts have a very high potential to be an allergen – in other words, to trigger an allergic reaction. Peanuts are not nuts; they are a legume. Aflatoxin is a type of mold found in peanuts and peanut butter. Aflatoxin can make you very sick.

Peanuts are not a great food to be eating if you’re trying to recovery from a gut or Candida problem. It’s possible that peanuts would be fine for some people, but the risk is always there that they are going to impact your immune system negatively. It doesn’t matter where they are grown or what oil you’re using; peanuts still contain allergenic proteins.

Put peanuts aside when you are doing a Candida cleanse. Once you’ve recovered, you might be able to reintroduce peanut butter back into your diet. You might want to consider doing an allergy test to see if you have an antibody response to peanut.

Should I Avoid Popcorn While Doing A Candida Cleanse?

Yes, in most cases, you can eat popcorn while doing a Candida cleanse, particularly if it’s a non-GMO organic popcorn.

I caution you about microwave popcorn. I think eating that kind of popcorn is a terrible idea. The flavoring in those packages are made of bad fats – I don’t trust those products.

You’re better off using plain, organic popcorn as I use myself. A particularly lovely oil to use with popcorn is sunflower oil. Get a non-genetically modified, organic sunflower oil. I usually buy Japanese brands. The Japanese brands offer a very light, thin, organic sunflower oil that is beautiful with popcorn. I add a tiny bit of sea salt on top. I experimented the other day with popcorn with a small bit of ghee on it, and I quite like the ghee flavor. Popcorn with clarified butter and salt is quite nice.

Remember not to eat too much popcorn. If you eat a lot of popcorn and there’s too much salt and oil, you’ll get a bowel problem the following day.

If you’ve got a lot of issues with certain types of bacteria (e.g., Klebsiella) in your gut, popcorn can cause bloating and gas. In that’s the case, back off and avoid popcorn until your digestive health has improved.

If you notice any side effects after eating popcorn, like diarrhea or skin rashes the following day, you may be sensitive or even allergic to corn. If you develop a digestive problem, a skin problem, or another new symptom after eating popcorn, stop the popcorn to see if there’s a link.

I think I’ve only seen popcorn allergies maybe half a dozen times in all the years I’ve worked. It’s not a common occurrence. Still, corn allergies do exist. I’ve seen quite a few of them in my American patients, although not so many in other countries. I think that in countries where people eat a lot more corn than average, the potential for allergies is quite high.

If you are going to eat popcorn, watch your teeth. It’s easy to break or crack your teeth if you chew on unpopped or partially popped corn.

Should I Avoid Rice While Doing A Candida Cleanse?

Rice is perfectly fine to eat while doing a Candida cleanse, particularly brown rice. Brown basmati is probably the best. Even white rice is acceptable, especially basmati, which I believe has got a higher fiber content than other polished grains. Still, I would stick with the brown rice and have small portion sizes. Don’t have a large amount.

If you haven’t been eating much rice previously, introduce it slowly like you would any other food. It’s particularly important to add grains very slowly because the bacteria in your gut are probably not well prepared to ferment the rice properly. Lack of proper fermentation can cause digestive upset. Wheat, gluten, and gluten-free grains should all be introduced slowly into your diet. Just take it easy to begin with, and slowly ramp it up. Keep an eye on your bowel movements as you add the rice. Before you know it, you’ll be eating some brown rice most days as I do.

Many people eat too many potatoes, and similarly, people eat too much rice. It’s best to combine rice with other grains. It’s even better if you can combine the rice with lentils, split peas, a bean, or quinoa. The quinoa partners up very well with brown rice, but not so well with white rice.

I recommend avoiding glutenous rice (sticky rice). Also, be aware that commercial sushi often contains sugar. People don’t believe me when I say that but go to the kitchen of a sushi chef. Sushi chefs use rice wine vinegar, which is quite sweet like mirin, and had a lot of sugar in it. The chefs also often add fine white sugar to the cooked rice to sweeten it up a bit. You could be eating a lot more sugar than you expect if you’re having sushi. If you make your own sushi and don’t put sugar in it, you won’t find it quite as palatable as the sushi that you buy.

Remember when people say, “I like the taste of….”, it usually means the food contains sugar. I’ve not heard people saying, “I like the taste of lemon.”, or “I like the taste of sour things.” It’s always the sweet stuff. If you like the taste of sushi, it’s probably the sugar, so be careful.

Can CanXida Products Help Manage my Cutaneous Candida?

If you have a Candida infection of the skin and live in the tropics, my recommendation is to not drink alcohol every day. That recommendation holds for any environment, not just a tropical climate. Alcohol is going to create a problem when you are living in a tropical region. Alcohol is quite warming for the body, and you are already living in a hot environment. Just imagine what alcohol is going to do to your digestive system.

After cutting back on alcohol, my next recommendation is to use tea tree oil products on your skin. Tea tree oil soap and shampoo are excellent when you live in the tropics. Both should help your skin infection significantly.

Next, it makes sense to look at internal treatment options. You may first want to do a stool test to see what type of bugs you got in your gut to determine the best course of action.

I recommend using CanXida Remove, Restore, and Rebuild, for managing Candida skin infections while living in the tropics. Take two each of Remove and Restore each day. Take one Rebuild per day for the long-term.

The combination of reducing alcohol, using tea tree oil products, and improving your digestive health with CanXida products should go a long way towards treating the skin Candida.

Trendy Diets: What Are The Risks?

Your gut can’t handle massive, big swings very quickly. You’ve got trillions of bacteria in your gut, and these bacteria are used to eating certain types of food. If you change your diet overnight, the bacteria in your gut won’t handle it well.

Don’t go for massive diet swings. It never works. My industry is full of people who write diet books, and quickly claim their diet is better than any other diet. I’ve got hundreds and hundreds of diet books going right back to the 1920s. Some of my diet books are almost turn of the century, and they recommend boiled milk and white bread as rejuvenating foods for people.

I believe that the best diet for you is the one that suits you best. How do you work that out? You work it out instinctively. You work it out by trying to figure out what food sits well in your gut. What protein, for example, gives you energy, gives you a boost, and makes you feel good? What food makes you lethargic and crappy? For instance, we all know if you drink three or four bottles of whiskey a day, you wouldn’t feel very good. So, what’s the point in drinking alcohol at all? Tiny amounts of alcohol over a long period may be okay, but you need to be very careful about alcohol intake.

A high-fat diet is a bad idea. Think about what it’s going to do to your gall bladder. Think of what it’s going to do to your gut, your liver? Your digestive system won’t handle a high-fat diet, so I would say you’re going to end up feeling tired and toxic — not a good idea.

If you’ve made a rapid switch to a new diet, my recommendation is to go back to the food that you usually eat. If you’ve been eating mostly starch and fruit, then slowly incorporate more fat into your diet. Add little bits, to begin with, and gradually build up the fat while bringing the starches and fruit down.

Look carefully at the protein you are eating. Make sure you are eating enough high-quality protein to give you the energy you need. Gradual changes to your diet are how your body find its set point, and your metabolic rate will work out fine. Your hormones will probably work quite well on a diet with more fat. Remember, jumping quickly from one food plan to another is like jumping out of a plane. Anything can happen, so be careful.
