A question I’ve been asked numerous times: what is the difference between a Candida cleanse, and a Candida diet? Why would we use both of those terms? Well, that’s a good question.
The difference between the two treatment options is that a Candida cleanse is shorter-term, more concentrated, with more focus on antimicrobial specific foods. The Candida diet is a longer-term approach to restoring and maintaining gut health.
The Candida diet is like the cleanse, but you’re going to dial the intensity back a bit. To my mind, the Candida diet includes not having alcohol for long periods, changing the way you eat, and focusing on your lifestyle along with your meal plan.
A cleanse you can do over a three to four-week period. A good time to do a cleanse is when you are preparing to change your diet. I also suggest you don’t embark upon a cleanse until you know exactly what you’re dealing with in your gut. I highly recommend getting a comprehensive stool analysis that will reveal whether your problem truly is Candida or whether the issue is something else like a lack of beneficial bacteria, too many harmful bacteria, or a parasite infection.

Once you’ve been testing and started the cleanse, don’t try and push through things too quickly. If you go too fast and too hard during a cleanse, you’re likely to get significant side effects. You don’t want to end up feeling hungover due to a Candida cleanse.
Once you have completed the Candida cleanse, you can transition to the Candida diet. Remember that the diet is not set in stone. It can be modified to meet your needs and gastrointestinal situation. You can change the diet to suit yourself as your tummy, and your health improves.
My take-home message is this: A Candida cleanse is vigorous, short-term, and best to undertake only after you’ve done a comprehensive stool analysis. A Candida cleanse can lead to the Candida diet, which becomes your long-term eating plan.
