Some clients will experience side effects from using digestive enzymes, even though they are taking a tiny dose. In those cases, the clients are often sensitive to most supplements.
In my Candida Crusher book, I have a section about the three types of clients categorized based on their sensitivity. There’s the person with the normal level of sensitivity, there’s the sensitive person, and there’s the super-sensitive person. I wasn’t taught this in naturopathic college. It was through years of clinical practice that I’ve identified these three types of clients.
The typical person can generally take the dosage prescribed on the package, one, two, or three times a day without much problem. The sensitive patient will need to be more cautious. These are the people that can take maybe two doses a day. If they overstep that mark, they get a reaction. The super-sensitive patient can be moderately super-sensitive. They can also be so sensitive that they can’t be around people due to the smell of soap, colognes, perfumes, and the like. Super-sensitive people can also have difficulty being around electrical cables and mobile phones. If there’s any chlorine in the water, they faint. As a clinician, it can be challenging to help people with extreme sensitivities.

If you’re a super-sensitive individual, I suggest backing off from supplements and working with food instead. If it is digestive enzymes that you’ve been taking, you can substitute lemon juice, citric acid, or apple cider vinegar. For example, you can start with five drops of apple cider vinegar in a teaspoon of water, three to four times per day.
Taking amylase supplements isn’t the only way to improve pancreatic function. If you are super-sensitive and prone to side effects, I recommend working to improve the acidity of your stomach. A healthy level of stomach acid improves pancreatic function.
Also, remember not to undergo treatment based on assumptions. Make sure you do a pancreatic elastase one (PE1) test. The level should be over 500 in a healthy person. You will also benefit from a comprehensive stool analysis (CSA) to see if there are any
bacteria, fungi, or parasites contributing to your difficulties. The stool test may also reveal why you have some powerful reactions to supplements..
