These are the Steps You Need to Take to Heal Your Leaky Gut

I’ve seen many people heal their gut in exceptional circumstances by making some basic changes. These were not complicated changes that required lots of money.

There are many reasons why you could have a digestive problem. Different types of digestive issues present themselves at different ages. If you want to repair the gut, you must understand the importance of the way you think and the way you live. Lifestyle often gets missed when it comes to addressing digestive problems. Many practitioners look at digestion as purely a mechanical process that requires medication if it isn’t working correctly.

But, here’s the thing: Most people can entirely repair their digestive tract without any kind of medication whatsoever. The digestive system is a beautiful system that works remarkably well, particularly if the mind is relaxed. If you start to develop fear and anxiety about your health, the symptoms escalate. People may start taking a daily drug that reinforces the idea that they have a problem. The first problem then leads to a second and third problem. Before you know it, they are very sick.

Many people that I have seen who are sick with digestive problems started with something straightforward. The problem became more complex as more and more medications were added to their treatment regime.

My recommendation is to not take that path because it can be challenging to reverse the problems, particularly in older people.

I would urge you to look at your relationships, your occupation, and your overall stress levels. You want to try and identify the “cause and effect” that has resulted in your digestive problems. If you do that, you’ll save yourself a lot of misery down the road. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t take the time to think about the circumstances surrounding the beginning of their gut problems.

The key steps you need to take to prevent or heal digestive problems are:

1. Assess cause and effect: Think carefully about what was going on in your life when your gastrointestinal symptoms began. Then address the cause(s) you identified. Often the symptoms resolve when the original cause has been addressed.

2. Make lifestyle changes as required: If it’s been too long to get a true sense of cause and effect, ask yourself if there are any medications you can stop. Are there any lifestyle changes you can make? Start to lead a less stressful life by taking things off your plate. Make changes to your lifestyle as required to

ensure your gut problems don’t continue indefinitely. You’ll be surprised at how your health changes when you address the stress in your life.

How you think with your primary brain affects how you think with your secondary brain, which is your gut. In turn, when your digestive system isn’t working well, it’s going to affect your primary brain. It’s a two-way street.

I can guarantee that if you have been sick over the long term, there is some problem that needs to be solved that is not food-related or health-related.

3. Be honest with yourself: Are you drinking too much alcohol? Are you eating crappy food? Are you treating yourself or others disrespectfully, but pretending everything is fine? You need to be honest about the habits that are contributing to your health problems.

4. Balance in life: Do you have enough downtime or relaxation time? Are you getting enough sleep? Sleep is one of the most important factors when it comes to recovering from a digestive problem, an emotional problem, or a physical problem. Sleep often helps to repair any kind of problem.

People these days want to get things done fast. They approach sleep the same way. They want to get sleep done quickly and get back to their mobile phones. That’s not the way true rest works. It’s not about being on the “cutting edge” of sleep. It’s about living a more leisurely life that includes adequate amounts of restorative sleep.

Being relaxed stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is an anti-stress system. We call it the “rest and digest” system. This system is the relaxation and healing mode.

Genuine relaxation does not involve technology like your mobile phone or iPad. The type of relaxing that involves just lying on the bed and breathing is what is going to kick start your body’s healing response.

5. The breathing response: Many people don’t breathe properly. Instead, they have quick and shallow breaths. Along with eating, breathing is one of the most important things to do correctly. Breathing is the most potent stimulator of the parasympathetic nervous system. If you want to boost your body’s healing power, you need to learn how to breathe properly. Very slow, deep nasal breathing is the goal.

Professor Konstantin Buteyko invented a form of breathing that I highly recommend. I’ve seen people go to Buteyko practitioners to address their breathing. Once they learned how to breathe properly, their anxiety improved, they began to sleep better, and weight and appetites improved. All of this stemmed from learning to breathe correctly.

Canxida Products And Chronic Inflammation: Yes Or No?

Inflammation is a process that the immune system uses to repair and heal the body. During inflammation, white blood cells produce several different chemicals. As the level of these chemicals increases, evidence of inflammation (such as redness of the skin) can surface.

I wrote about this phenomenon in my Candida Crusher book. If you are experiencing ongoing inflammation, I recommend undertaking some investigations. If you think the inflammation is internal, stool testing might prove valuable. If you think the inflammation is external, peripheral blood testing might be useful. You need to find the source of the inflammation.

Often a problem in one part of the body will lead to problems in other parts of the body. That’s why you want to find the underlying cause of your inflammation and address it effectively.

If you have a lot of pain or inflammation, I recommend checking out whether you have any food allergies. Are you using any personal care products that could be causing your symptoms?

More importantly, is your digestive system functioning well? What is the balance between beneficial and harmful bacteria in your gut? Do you have any yeast in your digestive system? Do you have bad bacteria? Is there a parasite in your bowel?

You might need to get some testing done. You might need to change your diet. Taking some supplements can help clean your gut and improve the balance between good and bad bacteria.

CanXida products can help with excessive inflammation.

CanXida Remove will help to clean your gut. This product helps get rid of parasites, fungi, and other junk in your digestive system.

CanXida Restore is going to help restore your digestive system. CanXida Restore helps the stomach, pancreas, and small bowel break down food properly. CanXida restore will stop fermentation, dysbiosis, and gas.

The probiotic found in CanXida Restore will help build up the population of beneficial bacteria in your gut.

You may want to check out your level of inflammation by having a blood test. A blood test is a good idea if you are having joint pain or other types of pain in your body. The blood test will reveal whether you have markers in your blood associated with a particular disease.

What Types of Skin Conditions Causes Itchy Elbows?

When it comes to itchy elbows, I would think of psoriasis or eczema before connecting that symptom to Candida. Another possibility is contact dermatitis. Some people can have allergic reactions to their skin cream. Occupational exposure to chemicals can also result in an itchy rash.

Differentiating between all the possibilities means paying attention to the type of rash on the elbow. Is it red? It the skin cracking?

If you have a rash, I always suggest reviewing your diet. Is there a chance that you are reacting to a food or beverage in your diet? Are you experiencing any digestive symptoms along with the itchy rash? You can go to google images to see if any of the rashes there look like what you are experiencing. That will help you get some idea of whether you are presenting with a rash that is consistent with psoriasis.

The main point is that it is vital to investigate the rash and come up with a diagnosis, before embarking upon a treatment plan.

Should I Treat My Candida Infection With Metronidazole?

The question of whether metronidazole is effective against Candida infections comes up frequently.

Metronidazole is also known as Flagyl. Flagyl is an interesting antibiotic designed many years ago. Flagyl is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative anaerobic bacteria. Flagyl is also used to treat bacterial vaginosis.

Flagyl works against certain microorganisms. However, Flagyl has no effect on viruses or Candida.

Antibiotics are not effective against yeast. You are wasting your time if you’re taking Flagyl to treat Candida.

However, if you have a parasite, Flagyl can have an impact.

I no longer use metronidazole. I was using it in very rare cases but have stopped recommending Flagyl. I saw a couple of people have very strong neurological side effects to Flagyl. I no longer think using that drug is worth the risk.

The side effect may only impact one in a few thousand people, but that one person can get debilitating long-lasting side effects.

It’s your decision whether you do, or do not, try a course of Flagyl. The typical side effects seen with Flagyl are stomach pain, constipation, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. It’s also possible to get a “furry” or painful tongue, sore throat, headache, and vaginal discharge. There is a mile-long list of possible Flagyl side effects.

Of course, not everybody is going to get side effects from using this medication. If you do get any side effects, they can range from mild to severely debilitating. You could be anywhere on that spectrum.

I believe there are far more effective and natural ways of getting rid of infections than using metronidazole.

Water Fasts: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

I think fasting is great, and I particularly like fasting for one or two days. Fasting allows your body to burn up a lot of junk. You’re going to get rid of a lot of waste, especially if you drink a lot of water and relax a lot during the fast.

You don’t want to be running a marathon while going on a fast. You want to take it nice and easy during a fast. You should be much more careful with long-term water fasting that goes beyond 3-7 days. In the first day or two of a fast, the body burns through available blood sugar and the glycogen stored in the liver. The body then taps into your fat stores. You need to be careful about tapping into those stores, because fat contains a lot of toxins that, when released, can make you quite sick. Long-term water fasts are dangerous and need to be medically supervised. That is why I’m not a fan of long-term fasts, particularly long-term water fasts.

Long-term water fasts can put you into ketosis. Ketosis can affect the way you think and feel. I don’t think it’s a great idea to put your body through that process. I consider it a type of abuse against your own body. I can’t see the benefit of pursuing long-term water fasts.

A lot of people fast because they hope to lose a significant amount of weight quickly. Once they’ve lost the weight, they go back to their original obesogenic diet. It becomes a weight yo-yo.

Ask yourself why you want to go on a long-term fast. What benefits are you hoping to get from going for an extended time without food? If it’s weight loss or simply feeling better that you’re after, you don’t need to go on a long-term fast to achieve those goals. You can get good results by going on a two to three day fast every month. During the fasts, have some bone broth and a little bit of fruit as well as the water. I also recommend adding in a lot of relaxation and meditation.

Long-term fasting is a source of stress for your body. Your stress hormone axis will go into starvation mode. Also, anyone with a history of an eating disorder should never go on a long-term fast because it can trigger binge-eating episodes and bulimia.
