Broth: A Weapon In The War Against Candida Overgrowth

One of the foods that can help clean your gut is a great broth. The broth I’m recommending isn’t just good for Candida, it’s good for healing the gut in general. The broth contains prebiotics, which help build good levels of beneficial bacteria. The broth also has antibacterial and antifungal properties.

The basis of all good broths is the Allium family, especially brown onions which are particularly powerful. Sometimes I also add spring onions or shallots to the broth. The Allium family is particularly beneficial for people with Candida because these plants have a variety of cleansing properties. Quercetin is one of the most important flavonoids found in onion. Quercetin inhibits some of the enzymes that you don’t want upregulated in your body because they cause redness, itching, pain, and inflammation.

Now, for the recipe:

1. Take two to three medium brown onions. Chop them up along with a few cloves of garlic and a couple spring onions.

2. Add some dark green, leafy vegetables which provide magnesium, potassium, and various other minerals. I’ll add Swiss chard or kale. Leafy greens contain different types of fiber, including prebiotics.

3. I like to add a bit of celery and carrot as well.

4. Add any other favorite vegetables. Root vegetables are particularly lovely.

5. Add a heaping teaspoon of sea salt. It’s essential to have sodium in the broth to even out the potassium content. This is particularly relevant for anyone who has adrenal fatigue.

6. Add some herbs. Thyme is a lovely addition to this broth. Thyme and other herbs such as oregano have antibacterial, antiparasitic, and antifungal properties. Parsley is also good in broth.

7. Throw in about 10 to 15 peppercorns. Don’t put cracked pepper in the broth. Make sure to use whole peppercorns.

8. Simmer all these ingredients in good quality water. Don’t use water that is full of chlorine. Using filtered water makes a big difference to the eventual flavor of the broth. Let the broth simmer for a good two hours.

9. Use a stainless-steel pot with a copper bottom, not an aluminum pot.

10. After the broth has simmered for a couple of hours, take all the vegetables out and throw them away.

11. You have made yourself a super-concentrated broth that will keep in the refrigerator for a few days.

If you’re an omnivore, you can also add a bit of chicken or bone to the broth. This addition will provide collagen and glutamine that help heal a leaky gut. However, I prefer to keep animal products out of this broth. I suggest having one cup of this broth every day over the winter. Regularly having the broth will go a long way towards cleaning up Candida, dysbiotic gut flora, and SIBO.

Food Is The Best Medicine: Eating Right For Your Candida Cleanse

Let me start off by saying, the only way you’re going to eradicate Candida, harmful bacteria, and poor gut function is to eat fresh foods. The fresher and cleaner the foods you eat, the better your gut is going to be. The more packaged and processed food you eat, the worse off your gut. Eating well is the key to gut recovery. Some of the best foods for a Candida cleanse are as follows:

Alliums: Alliums include chives, spring onion, shallots, red onions, green onions, and garlic, to name a few. Alliums are antifungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory. They also have a great liver cleansing ability that allows them to pull mycotoxins out of the bloodstream. Alliums also contain quercetin, which has a beneficial effect on your immune function.

Cruciferous vegetables: This includes broccoli, cauliflower, collards, kale, Brussel sprouts, Kohlrabi, and others. These are extremely nutrient-dense foods that contain minerals, vitamins, and different compounds that are health-promoting. Like the Alliums, cruciferous vegetables are also a great source of prebiotics. You should be eating both Alliums and Cruciferous vegetables every single day.

Gee: Oils and fats are necessary in your diet, and gee is a wonderful option. I often recommend gee to clients with Candida, SIBO, or parasites if their stool test showed low butyrate levels. Gee contains butyric acid, a compound that benefits the cells lining the digestive tract. I have found that gee is particularly beneficial for inflammatory bowel disease, but it’s also excellent for IBS and Candida.

Coconut oil: Coconut oil is another fat that I recommend including in your diet. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, caprylic acid, and other fatty acids. These monounsaturated long-chain fatty acids have antifungal properties.

Probiotic foods: These are fantastic foods but be careful. Many clients I’ve seen are ingesting several cultured and fermented foods each day. They are drinking kefir, eating yogurt, adding sauerkraut to their plate, and chowing down on kimchi. The problem is that they are not good foods if you’re gut is really messed up. It’s not true that you’re suddenly going to build an impressive level of beneficial bacteria but loading up on these foods. Go slowly with this group of foods.

Vegetables: There are several great options. Fresh green beans are excellent when it comes to healing the gut. So are sprouts such as alfalfa sprouts and mung bean sprouts.

Spices: Cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, turmeric, ginger, and garlic are some of the spices/herbs that are great for the gut.

Supplements: High-quality anti-Candida supplements are a great addition to your diet. That’s why I created CanXida Remove. CanXida Remove contains several antimicrobial compounds. Take one or two tablets a day to help with your Candida cleanse.

Using Essential Oils During Your Candida Cleanse

Are essential oils good? Can they counter Candida? Well, they can. I’m not going to recommend that you take them internally. There is a risk of toxicity, including liver damage, when using essential oils orally. You need to see someone who’s very professional and experienced before you start taking essential oils internally.

There are a couple of companies that do make food-grade essential oils. I believe they are doTERRA and Young Living. These companies make very high-grade essential oils. Nevertheless, you need to seek professional guidance when it comes to using essential oils orally.

I do have an Australian friend who, to prove a point, swallowed 20 drops of tea tree oil per day for weeks and weeks on end without any ill effect. I believe that essential oils can be taken internally, but only if you know how to use and combine them. Most people don’t have the skillset to understand which oils they need to avoid and which ones are safe. For that reason, you’re best to see an expert.

Essential oils are fantastic as topical agents. They’re excellent to use on the skin for jock itch and vaginal thrush. There’s a large amount written in the book Candida Crusher on how essential oils can be helpful when it comes to Candida. Essential oils can be a super powerful addition to your Candida cleanse protocol.

That is one of the reasons I put cloves in my CanXida Remove product long before I ever saw clove in any other antifungal product. Clove is one of the most effective agents you can use for Candida. Clove tea works very, very well. I’ve got patients who heal themselves just by putting several little clove buds into a cup, adding boiling water, and drinking the tea twice per day. Clove tea is one way of cleaning the body out.

Eucalyptus oil is excellent for Candida. Peppermint oil and eucalyptus oil have proven to be super powerful through studies. Still, I believe you can’t beat a lot of the good old oils, particularly oregano oil.

Several essential oils can help with Candida. The bottom line is you should only use essential oils internally under expert guidance. Vaporized and topical essential oils require less supervision.

CanXida Rebuild: The Ideal Multivitamin For A Candida Cleanse

A couple of questions I’ve been asked are, “What is a good multivitamin to take for Candida?” If you’re undergoing Candida cleanse or if you’re on a Candida diet, is a multivitamin necessary?

My answer is that I think a multivitamin is a very good adjunct to your diet. You will be going through several diet changes during your Candida recovery. You’re taking some foods out, you’re putting some foods in, so it’s very easy to end up lacking a trace element.

Firstly, a diet change could bleed into a deficiency. Secondly, you’re also changing the ecology of your gut. Some bacteria are going to increase in number, and some may come down in number. You may benefit from a bit of an antimicrobial effect while you are cleansing.

It’s challenging to find a supplement that contains all the As, Bs, and Cs. You want your macro-minerals, your trace elements, all your vitamins, and an antimicrobial base.

That’s the reason I created the product called CanXida Rebuild. I designed that product after using a multivitamin for my clients for years but wanting a version that included an antimicrobial base.

Most people who take CanXida Rebuild take one a day for six to twelve months. Other clients need more nutritional support and will take up to three per day. CanXida Rebuild slowly helps to build up the digestive system. It even contains mastic gum, which inhibits Helicobacter pylori.

Taking one CanXida Rebuild per day is going to have an excellent effect on straightening out the bugs in your gut while supplying the body with nutrition that it requires as you are going through a dietary transition.

If you’re going to take a multivitamin, take one with an antimicrobial base. There aren’t many options, but CanXida Rebuild is one that fits the bill.

Pau D’arco tea: An excellent tea for Candida Cleansing

One of my favorite teas to use during a Candida cleanse is Pau d’arco. It’s also called taheebo or lapacho tea.

Pau d’arco tea comes from a big tree that lives in the South American rainforest. You can find this tree growing in Brazil. I did a video on this topic in July 2016 if you want even more information about this excellent tea.

Pau d’arco tea is not only good for Candida but also for overall health and well-being. It’ also been found to be good for many different auto-immune diseases and even certain types of cancer. This is a tea I would like you to try and drink if you’ve got a chronic problem.

Further readings:

Pau d’arco tea has an orangey color and a nice flavor to it. You want to buy a supply that looks orangey. If it looks brown or smells stale, don’t buy that package. It can be hard to get a good, real McCoy when it comes to Pau d’arco tea.

Many different types of herbal tea are suitable for a Candida cleanse. But, Pau d’arco tea seems to be the best one in terms of its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory actions
