Can Fecal Body Odor Cause Yeast Overgrowth Or Bad Bacteria?

by Eric Bakker ND

The way you smell can be an indicator of both a cause and effect relationship that is going on in your body. This holds true when it comes to Fecal Body Odor, a pungent smell that is produced by your body and can be the source for many embarrassing situations. It’s easy to point fingers at bacteria and blame it on the smell you produce. But at the same time, you can turn around use fecal body order as a reason for your unstable digestive system and subsequently the development of yeast overgrowth.

The matter of fecal body odor isn’t black or white, there exists a grey area that gives clear indication of something going amiss in your body.

Why Fecal Body Odor?

Body odor is the end or waste product of bacteria. When the bacteria in our body breaks down proteins into certain acids, the process causes the production of an unpleasant smell. In short, you are what you eat, and depending on what the bacteria in your body is breaking down will result in the way you smell. Of course, that isn’t to say fecal body odor is normal, in fact such a smell can be an indicator of digestive problems and issues in the body that can stem from many sources.

Fecal Body Odor and Yeast Overgrowth Connection

As a causation factor, fecal body odor can be induced by yeast overgrowth. The fungus Candida albicans is recognized to cause a host of digestive issues – specifically the lack of necessary bacteria to help properly break down protein. The bacteria that does manage to overcome or coexist with Candida usually are not well equipped enough to break down proteins, this can result in the bacteria releasing the unpleasant fecal body odor as well as cause a whole host of other problems.

Fecal Body Odor and Bad Bacteria Connection

Bad bacteria is possible in the absence of Candida or yeast overgrowth. Eating the wrong food or unknowingly introducing bad bacteria to our body can result setting an off balance in your delicate digestive community. When bad bacteria interacts with your digestive system and take priority in breaking down proteins it can result in the production of unpleasant smells – such as fecal body odor. The culmination of bad bacteria can also lead to the subsequent development of yeast overgrowth and other digestive issues.

Fecal Body Odor and Metabolic Disorder Connection

Metabolic disorders occur when the body is unable to process certain compounds in the body (fats, sugars, proteins, etc). These disorders can vary between individuals and vary between causation factors. Having kidney or liver problems can cause metabolic disorders that in turn affect the way you smell. Some metabolic disorders can arise from being unable to process certain foods such as an allium metabolic disorder – where the body can’t break down foods like onions and garlic and results in the individual smelling like them. With fecal body order, a disorder known as Trimethylaminuria may be a primary culprit. Trimethylaminuria is a disorder in which the body is unable to break down the amine, trimethylamine. This compound has a pungent order that has been described as smelling like rotting fish, rotting eggs, garbage, urine and even feces. If a metabolic disorder is a potential cause of fecal body odor, it’s important to consult a physician about the proper steps to take in order to reduce your symptoms or cause any other complications.

What It All Means

Body odor is a result of digestive bacteria breaking down certain compounds in our body. Fecal Body Odor can be both an indicator and a symptom of problems with your intestinal community or digestive system. Your pungent smell can be an indicator of a metabolic disorder or digestive condition that should be looked at by a health practitioner to come up with the best plan to reduce other symptoms or cause other complications. On the other hand, fecal body odor can be a symptom caused by the overtaking of bad bacteria or yeast overgrowth in your body. The best thing to do is to spend less time being embarrassed about your smell and more time resolving the source of your odor to ensure your health and well-being.
