10 Simple & Quick Tips for Crushing Female Yeast Infections

Because vaginal yeast infection or, vaginal thrush as it is more often referred to, is extremely common, it is wise to follow the old adage, ‘prevention is better than cure.’ Although many women fail to realize it, there are steps you can take to prevent yeast infections either occurring or recurring, which can be incorporated into your everyday lifestyle with the minimum of fuss or effort.

The main reason women get genital yeast infections more often than men is simply due to the ‘design’ of the female nether regions. It is the ideal environment – warm, dark and moist – for yeasts to accommodate and thrive. So a large part of what you are looking to do is to make that environment less hospitable to yeasts.

Here are Ten Tips to remember when either preventing thrush or when trying to rid yourself of it:

1. By allowing air to circulate you are making the environment more hostile to yeasts. Wear loose fitting clothing wherever possible. This includes tight, heavy trousers and, more importantly, nylon underwear. Nylon doesn’t allow the body to breathe in the same way that cotton does. So exchange the nylon for cotton and the trousers for skirts whenever you can.

2. A steaming hot bath or jacuzzi might seem the ideal way to relax but the heat can encourage yeast overgrowth, and, in women who already have it, make the region extremely irritated. Take warm baths over hot ones and, whenever you can, shower!

3. If you need to wear trousers in the daytime consider having a shower in the evening after work. This way you can change into less formal garments and shift straight into a dress or skirt with no hose after bathing. The same rule applies after swimming. Change into something light and made of a natural material so the air can circulate between your legs.

4. Avoiding alcohol together with sweet desserts and candies is a must if you want to send that infection on its way. Alcohol is known to exist in many people with microflora dysbiosis and Candida just simply thrive on the sugary goodies. Remember that it won’t be for ever and, after your yeast infection has gone, most people often find that they crave candy a lot less than they did before anyway.

5. My Candida Crusher Program gives in-depth advice and guidance about how to treat recurring yeast infections as well as how to prevent them starting. But remember that foods which contain yeasts, and not only alcohol, can also contribute to making a Thrush infection worse. Avoid breads, and cookies wherever possible.

6. Probiotics are essential if you have to take antibiotics. Antibiotics are one of the major causations when it comes to gut dysbiosis and this fact has been realized for decades. When it comes to taking probiotics many patients only continue with them for as long as they are taking the drugs – and it simply isn’t long enough. Remember my x6 rule. For however long you take antibiotics you must take probiotics for 6 times longer. You are on antibiotics for 1 week, then take probiotics for 6 weeks. The beneficial bacteria take longer to be replaced than it does to wipe them out.

7. Oral contraceptives are also becoming recognized as causing thrush. If you are concerned, and particularly if you have recurring thrush, speak to your clinician about possible alternatives. For those women who don’t see any reasonable alternatives to the pill then consider adding a good quality probiotic to your daily diet.

8. Avoid becoming overheated. Whether you are having a day on the beach or when you are playing sports, consider just how overheated your body is becoming. Remember to shower, dry yourself carefully and to dress yourself in loose fitting clothing to allow yourself to cool off. It should go without saying to avoid saunas. That amount of heat, together with the moisture provides an ideal breeding ground for Candida.

9. When sitting, and particularly for long periods, try not to cross your legs. Letting the air circulate even when you are doing nothing is very important. You have no need to sit like a jock but can retain femininity by crossing your legs at the ankles – which is considered very elegant in some circles!

10. I don’t recommend douches under normal circumstances but do provide details of both my anti-microbial and probiotic protocols in Candida Crusher. These are specialist douches which can be used without encouraging further overgrowth.

Remember that although you can hold Candida at bay if you practice these simple rules, it is much more difficult to Crush Thrush once it has gained a foothold. Most of the time it is necessary to practice these habits for at least 6 months to ensure that Candida does not recur.

Exploring the Vaginal Implant Protocol for Chronic Vaginal Thrush

Yes, it is highly possible and most probably likely that your vaginal yeast infection will be completely eradicated by doing this the right way. You will get out of a program exactly what you put into it, if you are diligent and follow this protocol correctly you will be delighted with the results, I can vouch for the many women I have helped with this condition over the years, and I’m sure that most would agree with me on this with many of these cases being quite severe and of long duration.

When Should I Do the Treatments and For How Long?

The anti-microbial treatment can be used from one up to five days in a row in general, and it is up to you how long you wish to treat for. It depends on your level of comfort/ discomfort and basically the effort you are willing to go to. Remember to always alternate between the antimicrobial and the beneficial implant protocol.

I have noticed that some women get more results when they do two or three anti-microbial treatments before their period, and then do several pro-biotic treatments after their menstrual cycle, whereas others just do them as sets (the anti-microbial and pro-biotic) several times both before and after their menstrual cycle. I now prefer that women work out what is best for them, and this is because some get more relief with one part of this treatment phase, for example, anti-microbial versus the other.

You will soon work out what is best for you, the duration, what and how to use it and gauge the effectiveness of the treatment based on the results you are getting. And, always remember – treatments locally work the most effectively when they are employed along with the Candida Crusher Diet. Yes, I do repeat myself but I do it to really place emphasis on certain points.

In the next two posts you’ll find the implant treatment protocol I recommend for various conditions affecting the vagina or vulva. This is the protocol I have recommended for over fifteen years and with great success, women report that they get fantastic results – some in as little as 24 hours. There are two phases here that I recommend – the kill stage and the build stage – and this is what makes all the difference. Some programs I have seen just recommend the build stage (using yogurt) and others recommend the kill stage (garlic) by I recommend that you employ BOTH of these stages periodically, especially if you have chronic or recurring thrush. Do you use Fluconazole regularly (Diflucan)? Then you should most certainly do the following protocol, along with the Candida Crusher program.

 

Vaginal Douching Protocols: Colloidal Silver and Calendula

While douching isn’t something I recommend women do on a regular basis, there are some benefits to using this technique if you have a yeast infection you need to clear up. The key is to choose the right ingredients to prepare your douche. While an apple cider vinegar douche may work well, there are a couple of others to consider.

Douching is considered by some women as not a good thing to do as it may aggravate a vaginal condition, others find that it offers no real positive effect on a chronic condition. In my experience, the feedback I’ve received from many women has been most positive, especially the protocols I mention in my book Candida Crusher. Here are some useful douches you will find can offer much benefit.

Colloidal Silver

Colloidal silver is a mixture of microscopically small pure silver particles suspended in water. When applied topically to the vaginal area, colloidal silver when diluted in water can provide immediate relief as it has a marked anti-fungal action. The usual dosage is to mix ½ – 1 teaspoon of colloidal silver with a glass of tepid pure water (250ml) and use the mixture to douche the vaginal area. Colloidal silver works well when used in this way, or when added to apple cider vinegar as a wash.

A stronger concentration can be used after several hours if you feel no change or im­provement. Silver is a powerfully effective anti-microbial that is able to destroy bacterium and various fungi, and I have seen this treatment work when others failed, especially when the colloidal treatment was rotated with the water-soluble tea tree oil douche.

Calendula

Here is a great douche, which is particularly effective around childbirth, or any time the vagina has been affected by any kind of trauma. This douche is very effective for any ongoing issues after an episiotomy or any vaginal tears. Calendula herbal tincture, and be sure to get the low-alcohol extract version, is one of the most anti-fungal of liquid me­dicinal herbs and is well known for its ability to heal skin rapidly. Use one dessertspoon of calendula tincture per 250ml tepid water and use this mixture to douche the vaginal area. Use a suitable applicator to irrigate the vagina deeply if possible. Just speak with your naturopath or herbalist who will be able to supply you with liquid calendula of a low-alcohol content.

Don’t want to use liquid herbal medicines or find it all too much? Another option is to use calendula cream or Kolorex (Horopito) cream. Kolorex cream or capsules is a New Zealand product that is available in USA. Here is yet another effective solution for you; you may want to consider a feminine cream based on tea tree oil, Horopito or calendula.

An Introduction to Chronic Vaginal Yeast Infections

The majority of patients I see, around 75%, are women. Often they do not attend specifically for problems relating to vaginal thrush, instead they are concerned about digestive complaints or problems with their nervous system or sometimes reproduction issues.

Yet what many of these women often find they have in common is a vaginal yeast infection in addition to their other, more obvious, complaints and the indications are that this is no simple coincidence. Because a vaginal yeast infection is often something more established than a localized fungal overgrowth and is a symptom which provides us with a clue that something is amiss with the intestinal microflora. These microflora, which include yeasts, are in part responsible for ensuring that we digest nutrients from our food and clear toxins from the body. When an imbalance occurs, such as an overgrowth of yeasts, then it is of no surprise that many people find themselves suffering from other issues. Often these manifest as digestive problems because the food is not being degraded properly in their digestive tract or nervous system issues, because their cells are not absorbing the nutrients they need to function properly, and perhaps fertility issues, because the hormones necessary are often not being triggered for release.

Women with problems such as this are often surprised that my main focus then is on whether or not they have vaginal thrush. But this is one of the most obvious indicators that the source of their problem is something which is affecting the metabolism of their body – yeast overgrowth.

When it comes to a yeast infection the pH of the vaginal discharge can often give a clinical picture of whether the patient is experiencing this problem. The pH measures the acidity or alkalinity of a substance and the scale ranges from 1 through to 14. One is the most acidic and 14 is the most alkaline. Neutral pH is in the middle at 7. Vaginal discharge, of the healthy variety, is usually somewhere in between 3.8 – 4.5. When the pH goes up the scale to 4.5+ then that is an indication that a yeast infection is occurring.

Vaginal discharge is something which is perfectly normal. In fact it is part of the mechanism to keep the vagina clean and healthy without the need for any external interference. Although the amount and consistency of this discharge might change within the normal hormonal cycle, for instance more might be produced around the time of menstruation, there is nothing sinister about this. Provided there are no unpleasant odors, the discharge has not changed from clear or white to something more distinct, and there is no discomfort such as itching or soreness, then this is perfectly normal.

However if there is an unpleasant odor and vaginal itching or soreness, and the discharge has changed color to something which is usually less healthy looking, then there is, quite likely an infection occurring.

What this all adds up to is that the vagina should always have a very high ratio of healthy bacteria residing in the vagina – and they are there for a purpose. Part of that purpose is to provide a defense against pathogenic or bad bacteria getting a foothold and becoming dominant. When that happens when the acidity of the vagina decreases is that the pathogenic bacteria are in a position to cause problems.

When it comes to ridding yourself of this particular problem it can be clearly seen that treating the infection alone with antifungals simply will not resolve the issue permanently. And, as many women and their clinicians are only too aware, a lot of cases of vaginal thrush consistently recur and become all the more troublesome as time goes on. Often, a course of antibiotics is prescribed – which only serves to reinforce the strength of the pathogenic bacteria rather than resolving the issue.

What can clearly be seen is that when it comes to restoring a healthy microbial balance, it isn’t simply a matter of killing off the bad bacteria. What has to happen is that the cause of the initial imbalance needs to be identified wherever possible. The cause may stem from myriad different sources, which might range from a course of antibiotic treatment or from something as common as the oral contraceptive pill. Then you have to simultaneously restore the good bacteria while killing off the bad. Most often this involves changes in lifestyle and diet at the very least. Once you start to restore the microbial balance then the healthy bacteria begin to overwhelm the pathogenic and health problems, including those of vaginal thrush, go into remission. In the vagina itself, as the good yeasts and bacteria increase in numbers, the acidity of the location is restored and this repels further invasions from the pathogenic organisms.

Throughout the world it is estimated that around 75% of women suffer from some sort of vaginal thrush at some point in their lives and that often this is a recurring infection. If we take it that this condition itself is a reflection of other, more serious, health conditions, then it is obvious that some diseases, and mainly those of a chronic nature, could be caused by gut dysbiosis.

Main Benefit of the Cleansing Douche

The cleansing douche has a pH balancing, cleansing and tonifying action on the vagina. Use a vaginal applicator or a baster and carefully irrigate most areas, without adding too much pressure as you squeeze the contents of the applicator or baster. This douche that finishes off the treatment cleanses and restores, it returns the acid/alkaline balance back to normal.

What You Need to Complete the Cleansing Douche

A vaginal applicator or baster, 2 to 3 tablespoons of a quality apple cider vinegar, one teaspoon of colloidal silver and a small bowl.

How to Complete the Cleansing Douche

In a small bowl of water, mix in 2 to 3 tablespoons of ACV and one teaspoon of colloidal silver. Either insert this mixture into the vagina with an applicator, baster, or by way of a douche, and/or splash/thoroughly rinse the region of the vulva liberally with this wash. Gently dry the area with a soft cotton hand towel then use a hairdryer to ensure a more complete dryness afterwards. Use fresh cotton underwear changed regularly throughout the day; and sleep preferably with no undergarments. When you are finished, place the cloth in a bucket or container with water containing a bleach and water solution to sterilize.
